Faith Smith

Faith Katherine Gilkison Smith, 84, of Foster City, California, died peacefully on July 5, 2025, after a four-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

She was a classy lady who loved her children and grandchildren. A dedicated and doting grandmother who attended all sporting events and was a constant fixture in their daily lives throughout their childhood. Faith displayed unbreakable spirit and faith when overcoming the tragic loss of her son, Scott, in 1986.

Faith was born in Kansas on December 4, 1940, and was the fifth of nine children born to Arthur and Louise (Ebbrecht) Gilkison. She was an Executive Assistant for the San Mateo County Office of Education for twenty-one years and was highly regarded by her colleagues and supervisors; many of whom became lifelong friends. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as Aunt Fifi.

Faith is survived by her daughter, Jennifer, her grandsons (Henry, Francis and Joseph), and three sisters, Wanda Nelson, Marietta Kout, and Barbara Chase. She will be greatly missed. Faith was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Tom and Richard Gilkison, three sisters, Jacqueline McConnell, Crystelle Barnett and Sarah Clark.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends prior to services. Burial will follow at the Muscotah Cemetery.
