Mary Anne Eisenbise
Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha
Morrill , KS

Mary Anne Eisenbise, age 96, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, June 16, 2025, to her heavenly home.

Mary Anne was born on January 31, 1929, to George and Florence (Butterfield) Eisenbise in Morrill, Kansas. As the oldest of two siblings, she enjoyed her childhood on the family farm and graduated from Morrill High School in 1947. She then attended Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas before transferring to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and a Graduate Nurse certificate in 1953.

Mary Anne began her nursing career at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She would later earn a Master of Science Nursing degree at the distinguished Columbia University of New York in 1969. Mary Anne dedicated 41 years of her professional nursing career to the University of Kansas Medical Center where she served as the Director of Nursing for 24 years before retiring in 1994.

A humble servant to others, she spent her free time on various advisory boards for the hospital, the community, and her church. She often volunteered at the soup kitchen, where she was affectionately known as "the Salad Lady." Mary Anne was also actively involved at the Church of the Brethren, where she faithfully attended services, taught Sunday school, served as clerk and deacon, and as a board member.

With a passion for travel, Mary Anne was fortunate to visit many places around the world, including Australia, Russia, Japan, and parts of Europe, just to name a few. These trips were not only for leisure; she also volunteered at hospitals abroad to provide them with beneficial instruction and to learn from others. For Mary Anne, service to others and enjoyment were closely intertwined. She cherished her friends, family, and extended family, and loved hosting parties and gatherings that fostered fellowship. While it would be impossible to list all her accomplishments and contributions to society in this format, the extent of her impact on this world would certainly make for one really incredible and thought-provoking book.

Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Eisenbise.

Mary Anne is survived by her nephew, Jacob Eisenbise, and her many cousins, countless friends, and extended family, all of whom she left an indelible and unforgettable mark upon.
