Kirby Lee "Bear" Duncan Jr., 52, of Horton, Kansas, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on Monday, March 17, 2025, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born December 24, 1972, in Horton, Kansas, the son of Kirby Duncan Sr.

Kirby was proceeded in death by his father, Kirby Sr; sister, Lisa Bailey; and son Christopher.

Kirby is survived by 7 sisters and 3 brothers; his children Lakota, Topeka KS, Norma, Mayetta KS, Thunder, Janesville, WI, Skyla, Horton KS, Desiree, Pawhuska, OK, and Megan, Razeysburg, OH; and his 8 grandchildren.

Kirby was a member of the Kennekuk Church. Kirby also participated in Native American Church services, the Drum way of life, and many tribal ceremonials.

Kirby was an active member of the Kickapoo and Potawatomi communities and served as a member of the Kickapoo Senior Citizens Advisory Board for the Kickapoo Reservation.

Kirby was a talented and accomplished artist and well known for his love of art, music, and all of his Native peoples. Kirby served as a mentor and advocate for many tribal communities actively promoting Wellness, Recovery, and Healing through his artistry.

Traditional supper and wake will be held Friday night, March 21st at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation. Burial will be Saturday morning in the Lena Mason Family Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation.
