Jeffrey Lee Blevins, 84, of Havensville, KS, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born August 13, 1940 in Denver, Colorado the son of Lee and Rosella (Perschinske) Blevins. He graduated from Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School in Wichita, KS and later from Washburn University with a Business Degree. He also earned his Master’s Degree in Business from Emporia State University.

Jeffrey enlisted in the United States Army. He did a tour in Vietnam from 1967-68. His duties included Infantry, door gunner on Huey gunship and an air traffic controller. He was wounded twice and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He worked most of his life for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. He worked as a clerk, an auditor and in the computer division, retiring in 1991.

On January 10, 1995, Jeffrey was united in marriage to Cheryl Zibell. They shared 29 years of marriage before Cheryl passed away on May 26, 2024.

Jeffrey was an outdoors man at heart. He loved hunting, cycling (biked across Kansas numerous times) and riding motorcycles all over the Unites States. In his early years he enjoyed training in martial arts. He also had a special bond with all of his dogs, which meant the world to him. He was a stockman who took much pride in raising cattle and putting up hay for many years. His most favorite job was maintaining his farm and it could be said it was his “happy place”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Rosella Blevins and his wife Cheryl.

Survivors include his nephew Christopher T. Etzel (Audrey) of Havensville, KS; three godchildren, Grace, Katie and Jack Etzel; and many cousins.

 Private Family Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at a later date at the Bucks Grove Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5-7 P.M. Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Jeffrey will lie-in-state from 8 A.M. until 5 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
