Ruth Ann Sharp, 83, died January 13, 2025, at her residence in St. Joseph, surrounded by family. Prior to her recent move, she spent many years as a homemaker at the Sharp Family Farm in Wathena, KS. She was born on December 14, 1941, in St. Joseph, MO to Ernest and Mildred (Chivington) Howard.

She graduated from Savannah (MO) High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wathena.

Ruth married her husband Leonard A. Sharp on June 1, 1962, in Helena, MO. Meeting while out dancing evolved into over 63 years of marriage, three children, four grandchildren plus two spouses, and three, soon to be four, great-grandchildren, as well as many grandpets. He survives, along with children, Rick (Tracie) Sharp of Monnett, MO and Janet Sharp of Osage City, KS; grandchildren: Aron (Brandi) Sharp, Jacob Winkel, Canon Sharp and Bailey (Mason) Voth; great-grandchildren: Jake, Luke, Elliot, and one more on the way; siblings: Ronnie (Vickie) Howard, Sandra (Michael) Bomar, and Tammy Burkman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Dee Howard, infant daughter Karen Ann, and brother Byron Howard.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 2025.
At First Baptist Church in Wathena, KS

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the church. Friends may call after 12 Noon Thursday at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas.

Burial: Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Memorial to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
