Lois Theis Peterson, 87, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, surrounded by family members, at her home in Wathena, Kansas.

Lois was born on September 26, 1937, in Wathena, Kansas to Charles L. and Marcella A. Boeh Theis.

She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the St. Ann’s Altar Society. Lois was a caretaker over the years as a medical assistant and office manager for Sister’s Hospital, then working alongside her husband, Dr. Evan Peterson caring for their patients for over 40 years. After her husband retired, she worked for Northwest Health before retirement. Lois was loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved gardening and attending her flowers, as well as attending sporting events and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lois married Evan A. Peterson Jr. M.D. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2019.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Norman Stiverson, niece, Charlotte Adiar, nephew, Darryl Howard and great niece, Heather Brumback.

Survivors: children; Anita Diane Newton; Judith (William) Horsch; Evan A. Peterson III; Eric Peterson; Karen (Brad) Conger and Sheryl Chambers.

9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Siblings, Joan Stiverson, Rita Howard (Butch), Charlene O’Callaghan (Mike), and Larry Theis (Joyce).

Sister-in-law, Julia Burham.

Numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 10, 2025. At the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wathena, Kansas.

Rosary: 5:30 P.M. Thursday evening, with visitation to follow until 8 P.M. at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas.

Friends may call after 9 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas.

Memorials: St. Joseph’s Catholic Renovation Fund or the Wathena EMS.
