Glenn Ernest Oxandale, 97, of Wetmore, KS, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home with family by his side. He was born September 30, 1927 in Wetmore, KS, the son of George H. and Matilda Linneweh Oxandale.
Glenn graduated from Netawaka High School and attended Topeka Technical College. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a farmer and stockman most of his life. In early years, Glenn worked construction in Topeka. From 1977 to 1992, Glenn was a rural mail carrier and for a few years he drove a school bus for Jackson Heights schools.
He was a member of Wetmore American Legion Post 282. Glenn enjoyed coaching and playing baseball and softball. He was proud to have pitched against Satchel Paige.
Glenn married Doris Mae Sourk on June 6, 1954 in Goff, KS. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2023 after 69 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, George and Matilda Oxandale; 3 sisters, Reona Calvert, Bernice Boettcher and Velma Bunton; 7 brothers, George, Herbert, Melvin, Frank, Harold, Leo and Warren Oxandale and twin great-grandchildren, Lily and Joey.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheri Dibbern (Paul) of Netawaka, KS; son, Rod Oxandale of Wetmore, KS; 3 grandchildren, Brent Oxandale (Stephanie), Dr. Brett Oxandale (Brooke) and Amber Dibbern and 4 great-grandchildren, Jase, Gavin, Emmy and Kyser.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
