James Jimbo" Dale Thompson

James “Jimbo” Dale Thompson, 75, of Juniata, Nebraska was born on July 25, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles H. and Dona Belle (Chandler) Thompson. He attended Humboldt High School in Humboldt, Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1967. Jim then worked for Cooper Nuclear before attending Southeast Community College in Milford. He received his associates degree in Architecture in 1969.
Jim worked most of his life in construction as a finishing carpenter for various construction companies. In the mid 1970’s, he owned and operated “Jimbo’s Bar” in Kenesaw, Nebraska. Jim then owned the café and tavern in Juniata, managed the VFW Club in Hastings, and worked for area farmers. When he wasn’t working, Jim loved to fish.
Jim passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Tabitha Journey Home in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-five years, five months, and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul Thompson.
Jim is survived by his sons: Jason Dillon and wife Cathy of Lincoln, Dustin Struss of Yukon, OK; Taylor Wilson of Shawnee, KS; a daughter and son-in-law; granddaughters: Dacia and Jillian Struss, three grandsons; his brother Thomas Thompson and wife Kerry of Omaha, a sister Linda Thompson of Juniata, NE; nephew Ryan Thompson and fiancé Jess, niece Joelle Schert and husband Tyler, and three great-nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating. Inurnment will follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
