Clarence Burdick

Clarence Edward Burdick, 90, of Sabetha Kansas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. 

Clarence was born on January 7, 1934, in Seneca, Kansas to Joseph and Mary (Wessel) Burdick. He graduated from Saint Peter and Paul High School in Seneca in 1951. After serving in the Korean War, he returned home and married Alicia (Deters) Burdick on April 25, 1956, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville, Kansas. They were married for 67 years.

Clarence worked at Mid-American Dairymen which later became Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) in Sabetha as a maintenance engineer for over 40 years. After his retirement, Clarence worked in maintenance at the Sabetha Golf Club for many years.  He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. 

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alicia, on October 24, 2023; his brothers, Donald Burdick and Eugene Burdick; and his sister, Delores Goeckel.

Clarence is survived by his two daughters, Wanda (Mark) Hartter of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Vickie (Kevin) Goodman of Sabetha; four grandchildren and their spouses; and two great-granddaughters. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held immediately following the Mass at the Sabetha Cemetery in Sabetha. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sabetha Golf Club sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
