Dollie Jean Rohlfs

Dollie Jean Rohlfs, 90, passed away and entered the arms of Jesus on September 11, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, KS.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 17 at the Muscotah United Church. Visitation will be conducted one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Muscotah Cemetery.

Dollie was born on July 25,1934 in Sabetha, the daughter of Lee and Della (Leuthold) Rooney. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1952. She worked for several years at the Muscotah Grade School and enjoyed serving children through the lunch line or helping them as an aide in the classroom. Later, she worked for the Atchison County Soil Conservation office in Effingham and retired from NE-CAP in Hiawatha.

On February 20, 1955, Dollie married Leroy “Pete” Rohlfs. They were married 53 years before Pete passed away on May 10, 2008. You would often find Pete and Dollie sitting on their porch swing in Muscotah, waving at cars going by, or hosting neighbor gatherings on their wrap around porch. Dollie- greatest joy was being Grandma/Maga to her grandchildren and making life-long memories with them.

Survivors include two sons: Rex and Kristi Rohlfs, Lon and Karen Rohlfs; and one daughter: Lyn and Steve Hollenbeck; 5 grandchildren: Jacy and Brian Pierce, Chase and Nikki Rohlfs, Drew and Rachel Rohlfs, Courtney and Kent Schmidtberger, and Preston Hollenbeck; and 5 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Reid and Reese Rohlfs, Brady Jean Schmidtberger, and Zander Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Gary Rooney.
