Ervin E. Kimmi, 96, of Horton, KS passed away Tuesday evening, July 23, 2024 at Anew Health Care in Hiawatha, KS where he had been a patient since January.
He was born February 21, 1928 in rural Everest, KS the son of Julius A. Kimmi and Ruth Eyer Kimmi.
Ervin married Juanita A. Cortez on November 30, 1968 at St. Leo's Catholic Church. She preceded him in death August 8, 2020.
He was a soil conservation contractor for 60 years. Ervin started operating a dozer in 1946 before retiring in 2006. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He received the Bronze Star Medal and Citation and others.
Ervin was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church of Horton, KS, Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Life Member of the American Legion.
Ervin is survived by sister in laws; Rita (Carlos) Vasquez of Antioch, CA and Julia Rocha of St. Joseph, MO, brother in law; Fermin (Vicky) Cortez of Rock Island, IL and numerous nephews and nieces.
He is also preceded in death by brothers; Kenneth Dale Kimmi, Marvin Edwin Kimmi, and Myrle Arthur Kimmi, and sister; Doris Dean Bryant.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Leo's Catholic Church 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. prior to Mass at the church followed by a family visitation. Father Michael Kantanka will be the Officiant. Burial will follow at the St. Leo's Catholic Church Cemetery.
