Janice Lee “Jan” (Brown) Folk, 81, of Holton, KS, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was born January 19, 1943 in New Orleans, LA, the daughter of Arthur L. and Golden C. (Frevert) Brown.

Jan graduated from Holyrood High School in 1961 and attended business college in Denver, CO. She worked as a Teacher- Aide for Colorado Grade School beginning in 1974 and later a Substitute Teacher Coordinator for USD 336; retiring in 2013.

Jan married Ronald Folk on September 1, 1962 in Holyrood, KS. They celebrated over 54 years of marriage before his passing on September 12, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Golden Brown and a brother, Thomas Brown.

Survivors include 2 sons, Douglas Folk (Shannon) of Shawnee, KS and Scott Folk (Dee) of Holton, KS; 7 grandchildren, Dylan Folk (Jodi), Clayton Folk (Brittany), Rafferty Folk, Blayne Folk, Aaron Brooks (Suzette), Taylor Brooks and Chandler Folk and 4 great-grandchildren, Carter and Mason Brooks and Brylee and Ellie Folk.

Per Jan- request, there will be no public services. In lieu of services, friends can listen to Elvis and drink a Sonic Cherry Coke in her memory. Memorials may be given to Holton Elementary School or Holton High School Music Department c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
