Marjorie Elaine Dickinson, 87, of Hiawatha, passed away on April 23, 2024, surrounded by the love of family and friends at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas. She was born to Lawnie L.(Bud) and Alice Laverne (Molt) Boyer on March 21, 1937 in Horton, Kansas.

Marjorie grew up in Hiawatha and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1955. After graduating, she attended cosmetology school in Atchison. On September 8, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Oliver Jackson Dickinson, and lived on the Dickinson family farm west of Hiawatha where they raised their five children.

While raising their children, Marjorie helped Oliver run the family farm and held numerous secondary jobs throughout her working years, including cutting hair for family and friends, working at Wilde Tool Company, and the Arrow Twin Theatres. She was especially proud of her 17 year tenure as a bus driver for USD 415.

Marjorie had many hobbies and activities that she enjoyed sharing with her children and grandchildren which included being a 4-H leader and participating in bowling leagues. She loved to showcase her sewing talents by teaching her daughters and granddaughters the basics of sewing and knitting. Her love of books, movies, and baking has been passed down through the generations. Later in life, Marjorie enjoyed all the activities of the Red Hats Society and traveling after retirement. Marjorie was a two-time breast cancer survivor and participated in the annual Brown County Relay for Life fundraiser for many years.

Marjorie was survived by her children: Doug (Lisa) Dickinson, Glasco, KS; Angie (Phil) Baker, Sunrise Beach, MO; Melissa (Chris) Wegener, Hiawatha, KS; and Martha (Troy) Moree, Winfield, KS; her sister, Peggy (Mike) Shipman, Fairview, KS, and a sister-in-law, Dixie Boyer, Rush, CO, 10 grandchildren: Chelsea Mansor, Jacinda Dickinson, Chesnie Dickinson, Tyler Baker, Cortney Greeno, Kyle Jimeson, Tristan Dickinson, Jackson Moree, Aleah Moree, and Christian Moree; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver J. Dickinson, a son, Michael B. Dickinson, her parents Lawnie and Alice Boyer, a brother, Eldon Keith Boyer, and a great-granddaughter, Hazel Olivia Greeno.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, where the family will receive visitors from 5 until 7 pm Chapel Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, followed by burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Tony French will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hope Brown County cancer fund or the First Christian Church of Hiawatha, sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home.
