Robin Rexford Figgs

Robin Rexford Figgs, 63, of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his home in Topeka.

Robin was born on January 7, 1961, to Irwin and Leona (McConnaughhay) Figgs in Garnett, Kansas. Robin grew up and attended school in Sabetha, Kansas, and he graduated from Sabetha High School in 1979. After graduation, Robin attended college at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. He continued his education at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1985. A lifelong learner, Robin also attended Washburn Institute of Technology, known as Washburn Tech in Topeka.

After obtaining his teaching degree, Robin taught biology and natural science at Greeley County High School USD 200 in Tribune, Kansas. Then, he served the State of Kansas as a Kansas Seniors Achieving Independent Living consultant for many years. Robin was married to Paula J. (Thole) Figgs on June 8, 1985, in Stafford, Kansas. They were married for 38 years but were recently divorced.

Robin- passions in life were his animals, fishing, music, and above all else, spending time with his grandchildren. Some of his friends lovingly called him the “Plant Man” as he had a special knack for working with and caring for his garden and house plants. Family and friends will remember Robin for his generosity, outrageous pranks, love of thrifting, and contagious laughter.

Robin was preceded in death by his father, Irwin L. Figgs, on November 3, 2017.

Robin is survived by his mother, Leona Figgs of Sabetha; his three daughters, Alicia (Jesse) Julian of Topeka, Hannah (Jack) Figgs-Hoard of Lawrence, Kansas, and Miranda (Keith) Edwards of Wichita, Kansas; his four granddaughters, Adelle, Mae, and Laura Julian and Lola Figgs-Hoard; his grandson, Otis Figgs-Hoard; his two brothers, Philip Figgs of Sabetha and Joel (Paula) Figgs of Liberal, Kansas; and his dog, Buck.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sabetha Methodist Church in Sabetha, Kansas. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.
