Sabetha , KS

Beverly May Wenger, 97, of Sabetha, Kansas, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Beverly was born on May 9, 1926, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to Aaron and Hulda (Giesel) Moser. She grew up in a farming family, mainly in the Bern, Kansas, and Sabetha areas. She graduated from Bern High School in 1944.

Beverly met the love of her life, Vernon Wenger, through a family acquaintance while in high school. They became engaged in 1943, shortly before Vernon left for service in the United States Army during World War II. When he returned from service in 1947, they were married on April 13, 1947, at the Sabetha Congregational Church parsonage, with family present. Beverly and Vernon had five children, and they were married 66 years prior to Vernon- death in 2013.

Beverly worked for Victory Life Insurance in Topeka, Kansas, for a time prior to her marriage. After their marriage, Beverly and Vernon farmed for several years, and then, they moved to Sabetha. Beverly- career was her children, but once they were in school, she worked at the Sabetha Elementary School as a part-time cook, at The Sabetha Herald, and later as a Social Services Designee at the Apostolic Christian Home. Beverly enjoyed serving the Lord Jesus Christ through her local church and Gideons International. Traveling to see family was important to Beverly, whether that was down the street, in another state, or around the world in Costa Rica, Ecuador, or the Philippines.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her six-year-old daughter, Nancy, in 1961; her 52-year-old son, Jim, in 2008; her grandson, Travis Wenger, in 1976; her sisters, Loree and Dolores; and her brothers, Robert and Donald.

Beverly is survived by her children, Carol (Keith) Iddings of Versailles, Kentucky, Rod (Betty) Wenger of Lawrence, Kansas, Jeanne (Robert) Gaskell of Horton, Kansas, and Jim- wife, Martha of Papillion, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Emily Vilardo of Cincinnati, Ohio, Aaron (Caitlynn) Iddings of Versailles, Kentucky, Lesha (Matt) Strausz of Moundridge, Kansas, Chad Wenger of Lawrence, Kansas, Kristi (Mitch) Langley of Lawrence, Kansas, Melissa (Brent) McCrory of Emporia, Kansas, Rachel (Chris) Benson of Omaha, Nebraska, Jenny (Daniel) Hook of Kansas City, Missouri, Jason (Liane) Wenger of Topeka, Kansas, and Steve (Amanda) Frazier of Papillion, Nebraska; her 31 great-grandchildren; and her four great-great-grandchildren.
