Gary Wamsley

Gary Gene Wamsley, 59, of Branson West MO, formerly of Whiting, KS, passed away in his home on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023. He was born July 29th, 1963, in Holton, KS. He is the son of Daniel Charles Wamsley Jr. and Geraldine Louise (Higby) Runnebaum.

Gary was a member of the Whiting Baptist Church and graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 1981. After High School, Gary attended NEKA and graduated in 1983 in the field of welding.

Gary worked in construction as a carpenter most of his life. The last several years Gary was self-employed and owned his own shop in Branson, MO. His passion for woodworking enabled him to create beautiful wooden furniture pieces, signs, and interior wall siding using a wood burning technique.

Gary married Tammy K. Morfitt in April of 1987 at the Holton Christian Church. Together they have 3 children. 2 sons, Marcus Gene Wamsley, Levi Scott Wamsley and 1 daughter, Kayle Maddison Wamsley. They later divorced but always remained friends. Gary also has a son, Jeremy McClintock from a previous relationship. Marcie Kerr, his partner of 7 years, both resided in Branson West, MO until his untimely passing. Gary will be truly missed by countless friends and family who loved him unconditionally.

Survivors include father, Daniel Wamsley Jr. of Holt MO; mother, Geraldine (Larry) Runnebaum, of Beattie, KS; children, Marcus (Amber) Wamsley of Holton, KS, Levi (Alayna) Wamsley of Westmoreland, KS, Kayle Wamsley of Holton, KS and Jeremy (Stacie) McClintock of Topeka, KS; 3 brothers, Dave (Christina) Wamsley of White Cloud, KS, Daryl (Ruth) Wamsley of Powhattan, KS, and Tracy (Eryl) Post of San Jose, CA.; life partner Marcie Kerr of Branson West, Mo. Gary has 6 grandchildren and was very excited to meet his grandson that is on the way. Additionally, he had numerous nieces and nephews and 3 great nieces.

Preceding him in death was his granddaughter, Ensley Wamsley; grandparents, Daniel and Eunice Wamsley of NE and John and Irene Higby of Whiting, KS.

Memorial Graveside Service will be held at the Springhill Cemetery in Whiting, KS on Saturday June 24th, 2023 at 10:00am. A dinner will be provided at the Whiting Community Center in Whiting, KS by the Whiting Baptist Church following the services.
