Frances “Marie” Scheid, 98, of Holton, KS, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at The Pines in Holton. She was born May 28, 1923 on a farm east of Mayetta, KS, the daughter of Walter Dean and Bertha Estella (Frantz) Marriott.

Marie attended South Cedar Grade School and graduated from Mayetta High School in 1942. She sold Avon for over 52 years and worked at Walmart for 10 years. Marie enjoyed working with her husband, Lloyd, on the family farm south of Whiting, where they lived until moving to Holton in 1985. Marie and Lloyd spent many Saturday evenings at the Vinewood in Topeka dancing. She also had a love for dogs, birds and colorful flowers.

She was a member of Avon’s President Club for 25 years.

Marie married Lloyd Henry Scheid on September 10, 1943 in Springfield, MO. They celebrated over 75 years of marriage. Marie always said, “Lloyd was her only love and the love of her life”. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2019.

She was also preceded in death by infant daughter, Estella Ann Scheid; a sister, Shirley M. Hazelwood; 2 infant brothers, Stanley and Russell Marriott and 3 nephews, Ronnie, Larry and David Hazelwood.

Survivors include her son, Russell Scheid of Mayetta, KS; granddaughters, Jerica Marie Gallardo (Justin) and Jameia Haines (Chad) and 4 great-grandchildren, Jaylen and Jaren Gallardo and Ashley and Emily Haines.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial to follow in the Holton Cemetery.
