Betty J. (Wendt) Kolbek, 84, of Sabetha, formerly of Topeka and Holton, KS passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Sabetha Community Hospital. She was born August 1, 1937 in Holton, KS, the daughter of Erwin R. and Louise Emma “Peggy” (Alley) Wendt.

Betty graduated from Denison High School. Betty worked many years as a computer operator and typist for credit and collections at Goodyear Tire Company where she retired. After retirement, Betty worked at Dollar General in Sabetha.

On August 7, 1955, Betty was united in marriage to John R. Kolbek in Holton, KS. They shared over 58 years of marriage before John passed away on August 1, 2014.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband John; a son, John E. Kolbek; and two brothers, Raymond and Hershel Wendt.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Ann Kesler (Jim) of Sabetha, KS; 2 sons, Ronald S. Kolbek (Cindy) of Topeka, KS and Jeffery L. Kolbek of Sabetha, KS; a sister, Mary Martin of York, NE; and a brother, Donald Wendt (Peggy) of Perry, KS; sister-in-law, Joan Wendt of Wichita, KS; 15 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS with the burial to follow at Olive Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Betty J.
