Floye Madge Knouft, 100, of Holton, KS, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021at Holton Community Hospital. She was born December 15, 1920 near Havensville, KS, the daughter of Harley and Estella A. (Kroth) Manuel.

Floye attended Bucks Grove Grade School and graduated from Havensville High School in 1938. She lived in the Holton Community since 1942. Floye taught at country schools in Jackson and Pottawatomie counties for 5 years. She owned and operated with her husband, The Hamburger Inn “The Dump” in Holton for over 23 years. After retirement, she was a custodian for Kansas State Bank.

She was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church, King’s Daugthers Sunday School Class and Faith Faust Circle. She was also a member of Jackson County Historical Society, Holton Business Women and Holton Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Floye was a 2020 Hall of Fame inductee.

 Floye married Donald Charles “Deke” Knouft on November 27, 1942 in Holton. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1985; after 43 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son, Mickey Knouft on December 31, 2008; 2 sisters, Isla Herbert and Nola Boggio and brother, Milton L. Manuel.

 Survivors include her son Mark L. Knouft (Debby) of Circleville, KS; 3 granddaughters, Carly Fletcher (Brett), Lindsay Alley (Ryan) and Tara Ladusch (Lloyd) all of Circleville, KS and 6 great-grandchildren, Taygen and Jayden Fletcher, Abri and Adalie Alley and Leslie and Leah Ladusch.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Evangel United Methodist Church. Private Family Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Floye will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home beginning Sunday afternoon and Monday until 6:00 p.m. both days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Jackson County Senior Center, Beck-Bookman Library or Holton Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
