Luigi Picco

Luigi Picco, 93, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on September 14, 1927, in Flaibano, Italy.  He was the seventh of eight children born to Virginia and Elena (Pettoello) Picco.  In 1952, Luigi was united in marriage to Maria Antoinette at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Flaibano, Italy.  To this union two sons, Gilbert and Daniel were born.  The couple moved to Humboldt, Nebraska in 1962 when Maria had been given an opportunity for employment as a housekeeper. While living in Humboldt, Luigi worked for the Cooper Feed Mill for many years.  He and Maria were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson.

Luigi passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-three years, six months and twenty-two days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maria, sons Daniel and Gilbert Picco and six siblings.  He is survived by his brother Elvio Picco of Saint-Andre le gaz, France and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dawson, Nebraska with Father Kenneth Hoesing officiating.  A livestream broadcast of Luigi’s service will be available on the Wherry Mortuary/Monument Facebook page for those not able to attend. 

Luigi’s register book will be available to sign from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street, in Humboldt, Nebraska. 

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
