Richard “5 Buckles” Henry Ellston, 71, of Humboldt, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn, Nebraska.  He was born on October 20, 1949, in Gregory, South Dakota to Jay and Darlene (McKenzie) Ellston.  5 Buckles was a member of the Rosebud Sioux tribe.

John Deere tractors were his passion along with collecting coins. He loved his family dearly. Richard always kept busy and would help anyone at any time. Before you could ask for help, Richard would already be giving you the shirt off of his back.  He is going to be missed deeply by many.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Connie (Helms) Ellston of Humboldt, NE; son Ryan Ellston and wife Melissa of Grand Island, NE; daughter Jessica Ellston of Grand Island, NE; son Shane Bredemeier of Lincoln, NE; son Cole Ellston and wife Chelley of Humboldt, NE; sisters: Janice and Sharon Ellston of Grand Island, NE; Along with many grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Amie Ellston.

A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held with a potluck dinner from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the DuBois Community Center in DuBois, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.  A bonfire will follow at Cole's house in Humboldt.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family with a later designation.
