Elmer Lee Strahm

Elmer Lee Strahm, 92, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Elmer was born September 3rd, 1928 in Sabetha Kansas, the son of Noah and Frieda (Wegman) Strahm.  He completed the 8th grade and then received his GED while serving his time in the military.  Elmer married Phyllis Banwart on August 19, 1951 in Algona, Iowa.  He served our country from 1953-1955 during the Korean War, serving eleven months in Europe with occupational services.  Elmer and Phyllis were baptized and became faithful members of the Sabetha Apostolic Christian Church in 1955.  After his years of service, they lived and farmed in the Sabetha area until their retirement.

Elmer and Phyllis have two children:  Sonia, who passed away November 2015 and Loel who survives of Hiawatha, Kansas. Also surviving are grandchildren, Bryan (Jessica) Cole and Jennifer (Austin) Dinger, along with great grandchildren Logan Cole and Toni Denner all of Topeka Kansas.

Elmer was preceded in death by their daughter, Sonia, one sister Margaret Meyer, and one brother, Walter Strahm. 

Elmer will lie in state on Monday, December 7, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Sabetha. Interment will be made at the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Apostolic Christian Church, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, KS 66534.
