Adrian " Cookie" Koch

 Adrian F. “Cookie” Koch, 96, of Holton, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his home.

He was born September 18, 1924 at St. Benedict, the son of Edward and Rose Deters Koch.  He graduated from St. Benedict High School in 1942.

Adrian was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton, Holton Knights of Columbus Council No. 4219, and the Kansas Carpenters Union.

He worked as a carpenter for most of his life.  This included being a carpenter foreman for Eby Construction, based out of Wichita.  He helped build many homes in the Holton area, including his own.  He and his wife had owned and operated the Holton Bowling Alley, and he sold insurance for the Jayhawk Insurance Company.  In retirement he could be seen most days with his saw on the driveway, making picture frames that he took to many craft shows in the area.

He married Therese M. Haverkamp on November 25, 1950 at St. Benedict.  She preceded him in death on December 25, 2014.

Adrian was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Alan Koch, who died in 2018, three brothers, Victor Koch, Cyril Koch and Lawrence Koch, and three sisters, Thelma Olberding, Emma Olberding and Freda Koch.

Survivors include his daughter, Marilyn Miles (John Porter), Ozawkie, a daughter-in-law, Cathy Koch, Jacksonville, FL, three granddaughters, Tara Anderson (Jasson), Angela Koch and Susan Koch, three great grandchildren, Ava Miles, Conner Miles and Emree Miles, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 9th at St. Dominic Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery at St. Benedict.  Adrian will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, followed by visitation until 5:00 p.m.  Please wear a mask for the Rosary, visitation and the Mass.  Memorials are suggested to St. Dominic Catholic Church or the Holton Knights of Columbus, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, KS  66436.
