William " Bill" Marfice

William “Bill” Marfice, 93 of Table Rock, Nebraska passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Journey House.  He was born on February 4, 1927 to John and Helen (Stanczyk) Marfice in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Bill graduated from Table Rock High School in 1944. He joined the Army in September 26, 1946 to 1952. He was Army Corp of Engineers 489.

Bill married Elizabeth Rose Eis at St. John Catholic Church in Table Rock on November 26, 1955, to this union three children were born, Susan , Roland, and Michael.

Elizabeth passed away July 31, 2010. 

After the military he farmed and was a truck driver and ran a sawmill for 24 years.  

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Bill was on the Table Volunteer Fire Department, member of the American Legion  Brown Hays post #289, 59 years, and VFW Commander. 

He liked Gardening and loved watching football especially the Huskers, and loved working with  his cattle. 

He was proceeded in death by his parents John and Helen Marfice, wife Betty, sons, Roland and Michael Marfice, his siblings, Eleanor Harper, Louise Spencer, Paul Marfice, Richard Marfice, Donald Marfice, Joyce Nieto,  son-in-law Thomas Rutledge.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Rutledge,  Linn Creek, MO, grandsons, Jeremy Stephens of Beatrice, Anthony Rutledge (Holly Mitchell) of St. Louis, MO, brother, Norman Marfice of Omaha, NE, sisters, Bernice Kopetzky of Falls City, NE, Isabelle Phillips of Sacramento, CA, sisters-in law, Annabell Rumbaugh of Humboldt, NE, Ruth  Ellen Flentje of San Marcos , TX, special friend Laura Turnbull, several nieces, nephews and friends.

Services 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Steinauer, Nebraska.  Officiating Father Michael Christensen.  Visitation on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m., at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Interment at the Table Rock Cemetery, Table Rock, Nebraska.  Memorial to family choice.  Due Covid-19 everyone is required to wear  masks and  practice social distancing.  Military Honors provided by Pawnee City VFW Post #5289, the Table Rock American Legion Brown Hays Post #289, and the Nebraska National Guard  Honor Guard.  On line condolence may be left at www.wherrymortuary.com
