Esther Enneking

Esther A. Enneking, 89, of Seneca, died Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Crestview Nursing and Residential Living in Seneca.

She was born on August 10, 1931 in Baileyville, Kansas to Edward and Rose Wichman Skoch.  She graduated from St. Benedict High School in 1949.
On June 13, 1950, she married Rochus Enneking at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. The couple farmed and lived on the Enneking family homestead, ran a dairy and had nine children. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage before Rochus death on May 1, 2019.

Esther was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church, a past president of the altar society and an avid volunteer for the Nemaha County Election Board and for American Red Cross Blood Drives.  She was a dedicated mother and wife.  In her spare time Esther enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, quilt making and bowling.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerard Enneking on October 31, 1961 and siblings; Elmer Skoch.

She is survived by her children, Damian (Kris) Enneking of Seneca, Karen (JT) Wells of Wichita, Michael (Bonnie) Enneking of Hiawatha, Douglas (Lois) Enneking of Bern, John (Sharon) Enneking of Seneca, David (Ilene) Enneking of Centralia, Mary Ann Enneking of Seneca and Jeanette Enneking of Wichita; sibling, Eleanor Schultejans of Anamosa, Iowa: 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening, September 29th at 7:00 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorial are for Nemaha County Training Center in Seneca, sent in care of the family. Lauer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
