Thomas George Hopp, 68, of rural Highland, died Friday evening, September 18, 2020, at home. Thomas George Hopp was born to the late Everett C. Hopp and Louise (Kelley) Hopp on June 21st, 1952 at the Hiawatha Hospital.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sisters. Tom was a grandson of the well-known Kelley family from White Cloud and was proud of his Kelley history and heritage.

Tom grew up in the Highland area, where he maintained residency throughout his lifetime. Tom attended private school in Atchison, KS and was also a Highland Blue Streak. Following high school, Tom studied farm Mechanics at NCKA Vo-Tech in Atchison, KS. Tom later helped his father maintain the family farm and had numerous business ventures over the years.

Tom was married and later divorced and gained numerous stepchildren and grandchildren during his marriage.

Throughout his lifetime Tom enjoyed time with friends, his beloved pets, and anything agricultural related. Tom was an active member of the Kansas Livestock Association and took great pride in recruiting new members. Tom loved to research new trends in the ag industry and experiment with new farming and ranching methods. Tom raised black angus cattle and at one time owned a Chianina bull, named Iceman. Tom was proud of Iceman and would often share stories about the bull.

Tom was initiated into the Smithton Lodge No.1 on 1/4/1984.

Later in life Tom enjoyed friendship and spending time with his caretaker, family and grandchildren, and his beloved pets Miss Kitty and Gretta.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland from 10 until 6 Monday.

Graveside services are planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, at the Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud, with Chaplin Jerry Petering officiating.

Masonic Committal Services will be a courtesy of Smithton Lodge #1, AF&AM, of HIghland
