Darren Andrew Blandin, 55, of Horton, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 13, 2020. He passed doing what he loved, being out and exploring nature.  

He was born on July 16, 1965 in St. Peter, Minnesota the son of Thomas and Esther Jensen Blandin. He attended Powhattan grade school and was a Red Devil. He then went on to attend Inter Mountain Inter Tribal School in Utah. He was ordained as a Reverend. Darren had worked in date entry, also worked as a welder/fabricator for Uni-Corp. for numerous years, manufacturing tank parts for the U.S. Government. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, however he was able. Everyone he met enjoyed his company. He was very outgoing and made friends easily.

Survivors include, his loving mother, Esther Blandin of Hiawatha, Kansas; his son, Waylon Finch-Blandin of Powhattan, Kansas; sister, Denise Patterson of Horton, Kansas; brother, Kevin Blandin of Horton, Kansas; along with numerous nieces and nephews; loved ones and also various friends throughout his life. He was a member of the Sac & Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska. He took pride in his heritage and his spirituality.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation with visitation to follow and a potluck dinner. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
