Gene Chandler, 80, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 2, 2020 at Falls City. He was born March 9, 1940 at Sabetha, KS to Theodore and Ina Vina (Root) Chandler

He married Mary Watkins on January 29, 1961 at Sabetha, KS.

Gene was raised at Sabetha and graduated Reserve High School in 1959. When married the couple established their home in Sabetha and in 1967 they moved to Falls City. He worked for Brockhoff in Sabetha as a welder and as a farm hand for area farmers. They then moved to King City, MO and he worked for Wiedmaier Truck Stop and milked cows for Vernon Meyer when they lived Stewartsville, MO. They then moved to Atchison, KS and back to Falls City in 1985 where he worked for Woodings Verona and as a farm hand for Dennis Meyer, retiring from Ames True Temper in 2002. He then worked part time doing salvage work. He was a member of Bible Fellowship Church.

Gene is survived by his wife, Mary of Falls City, children, Jeff and his wife Donna of New Strawn, KS, Sheila Seager and her husband Terry of Topeka, KS, Tina Ferris and her husband Jeff of Falls City, Kim Chandler of Falls City, Jamie Frederick and her husband Gary of Falls City, brothers, Robert and his wife Dee, Richard and his wife Lois both of Lady Lake, FL, sister, Lucy McPhetrige of Dallas, TX, fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ricky in infancy, brothers, Caroll and John Chandler, sisters, Mary Lou Sinclair and Mavis Boone.

His funeral will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sabetha Cemetery. The service will be broadcast on 88.7 FM and may be listened to in your car if you close to the funeral home.

Open visitation and viewing will be from noon until 7:00 PM Sunday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
