JoAnn Hollis, 91, of Powhattan, KS, formerly of Goff, KS, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha. She was born October 15, 1928 in Goff, KS, the daughter of Vern and Pearl (Merritt) Monhollon.

JoAnn graduated from Goff High School in 1946 and she earned her Teaching Degree from Emporia Teachers College.

She was a school teacher for country schools in Atchison County. JoAnn also worked for Slimaker Dress Factory for 20 years and she owned and operated JoAnn’s Beauty Salon in Goff for 20 years.

JoAnn was a member of the Goff United Methodist Church, Goff Women’s Club, United Methodist Women and served on the State Board for Kansas Federated Women’s Club.

She married Raymond Lee Hollis on October 18, 1947 in Goff, KS; he preceded her in death on April 21, 2006, after over 50 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ernestine Kerr and Jean Rutz, and a son-in-law David Werner.

 Survivors include 2 daughters, Jennifer Mueseler (Frank) of Powhattan, KS and Jodene Werner of Tecumseh, NE; a sister, Pat Smith of Bloomfield, KY; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandsons.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday February, 28, 2020 at Goff United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Goff.
