John Franklin Hollander, 85, of Holton, Kansas, passed away December 7, 2019 at his home. He was born September 20, 1934 in Holton, Kansas, the son of Frank Joseph and Louise Christine (Wagner) Hollander.

John attended grade school at Ontario and Lawn Ridge and graduated from Whiting High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1954 – 1956. John married Charlotte Georgia Brown on August 12, 1956 in Whiting, Kansas. They shared over 60 years of marriage. He spent most of his life in Jackson County as a Farmer and Carpenter. He enjoyed traveling and sharing vegetables from his garden. John had attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1967.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte on June 6, 2017, a son David on January 6, 1964.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianne P. Wake (Jim) of Muscotah, Kansas; a son Dennis L. Hollander (Janice) of Holton, Kansas; one brother, Max Hollander (Sharon) of Whiting, Kansas; two sisters Rosemary Thonen (Ronald) of Circleville, Kansas and Sharon Sumner (Ron) of Topeka, Kansas.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, Kansas. Burial will follow to the Springhill Cemetery in Whiting, Kansas. He will lie in state beginning Monday afternoon at the funeral home. The family will meet with friends from 5-7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Mercer Funeral Home.
