Wayne Martin

Wayne A. Martin, 87, of Topeka, KS, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born February 7, 1932 in Logan, OK, the son of Russell A. and Ocie A. (Luck) Martin.

Wayne lived in the Havensville area until 1950 and in Topeka since 1956. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He worked at Ed Marlings in warehouse and delivery and later for Highland Park Barber Shop from 1962 -1973 with his brother Dwayne. Wayne retired from USD 501 in 1983; working in warehouse and delivery. He was a member of the Southern Hills Mennonite Church in Topeka.

Wayne married Betty J. Krehbiel on July 20, 1969 in Topeka; she preceded him in death on September 13, 2003 after over 34 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Opal Nicholas, Maxine Reid and Sarah Elmore.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Brad Martin (Suzanne) of Louisville, KY and Greg W. Martin (Suzannah) of Topeka, KS; 3 sisters, Fern Neal of Marlo, OK, Josie Jackson of Salt Lake City, UT and Carol Kuehl of Manhattan, KS; 3 brothers, Dwayne Martin of Topeka, KS, Lloyd Martin of Silver Lake, KS and Bob Martin of Wichita, KS and 2 granddaughters, Lillie and Molly Martin.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 4th, 2019 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Southern Hill Mennonite Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
