Valley Falls, KS

Patricia R. Jackson, 81, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

She was born May 12, 1938 in Valley Falls, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth Smith Frakes. She was a graduate of Valley Falls High School and a lifelong resident of Valley Falls.

She married Keith J. Jackson, June 8, 1957. While Keith was stationed in the Army and they were living at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, their first child, Clark, was born. They moved back to the Valley Falls area, and raised their five kids: Clark, DeAun, Kent, Kirk and Susan.

Pat worked at Merchants National Bank in Topeka and for the Perry Lake Corps of Engineers. She retired from the US Postal Service after serving as a Rural Mail Carrier in the Valley Falls and Ozawkie communities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, her son, Clark, her father, Raymond Frakes, her mother, Ruth Brown, and step-father, Lawrence Brown. Her brothers Arthur “Bud”, Ronnie and Roger Frakes also preceded her in death.

Pat will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and sweet, quiet disposition by her family and friends. She was unfailingly supportive to her two daughters, DeAun and her husband Mike, and Susan and her husband Ken, and also to her two sons, Kent and Kirk.

Pat enjoyed her grandchildren, always attending their many programs, plays and sporting events. Brent and his wife Kristin, Derek, and Alexis Michael; and Danna, Bailey, and Amelia Kidd; and great-granddaughter, Aria, will miss her sweet smile and comforting nature.

Pat was a baptized and lifelong member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women and the church’s Clothes Closet ministry. She enjoyed visiting with the ladies while working together to support their church and to provide a much needed service to the community. She looked forward every year to assisting with the Valley Falls Christmas Kids, and making pies for the Meriden Antique Engine and Threshers shows.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
