Rosemary E. Rettele, 92, of Kelly, Ks passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, Kansas.

Rosemary was born in Frankfort, KS on November 14,1926 to Clement A. and Lenora Engelken Zind.  Her Father passed away when she 5 years old.  She then moved to Seneca, KS with her mother, 4 sisters and 1 brother. 

When she was 16 years old her mother passed away. Rosemary and her brother then moved to Baileyville, KS to live with her sister Leona and husband Jack Houlton. 

She attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic Schools and graduated in 1944. After graduation she moved to Kansas City to live with her sister Helen and Bernice Zind. She worked at Virginia Dare Ladies shop as a cashier.

On February 15, 1947 she married William A. Rettele at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville, and they bought and lived on the family farm north of Kelly, Ks. They had 9 children. 

She was a member of St Bede's Catholic Church and served as President of the Altar Society for 2 years. 

She also taught Catholic religion classes at Kelly grade school for several years. 

She was a very devout Catholic and always had a rosary close by. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and especially with the ladies in her bridge club. She loved watching sports but mainly the KU Jayhawks basketball games.

Preceding her in death was her husband William A Rettele (1994), son Mark Rettele (1990), baby daughter Mariann Rettele (1951), baby grandson Wyatt Rettele (2001), son-in-law Brian Scott (2018). Also 5 sisters Evelyn Zind, Leona Houlton, Marguerite Houlton, Helen Hunter and Bernice Campbell.

Survivors are 7 children Bonnie Scott  (Olathe,Ks), K'Lynn Sherpy  (Kansas City, Mo), Mike (Janet)Rettele  (Topeka,  Ks), Morris  (Jamie)Rettele  (Seneca, Ks), Morgan  (Joyce)Rettele  (St. Louis, Mo), Max  (Judy) Rettele  (Jarrell, TX), Matthew  (Lisa) Rettele  (Seneca, Ks), daughter-in-law Diane  (Mark Rettele), brother Clem Zind  (Springfield,  Mo), 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 7 step grandchildren. 

Rosaries are 2 and 7 P.M. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday Morning at 10 A.M. at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. The Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Seneca

Memorials are to St Bede's Catholic Church, Kelly,Ks sent in care of the family.
