Anna Hasenkamp, 97, of Topeka, Kansas, died on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

Anna was born December 6, 1921, on a farm south of Kelly, Kansas, to Bernard and Caroline Klunenberg Schultejans. She attended and graduated from the 8th grade at St. Bede's School in Kelly. She helped on the family farm while her brothers went to war and helped the neighbors with their newborns.

On February 3, 1948 Anna married Fred J. Hasenkamp at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. They farmed for two years in the Axtell area before moving to a farm south of Goff and Bancroft area. Fred died on November 17, 1973. After her husband died, she worked for a couple years at the Goff Cafe in Goff, Kansas. In 1980’s Anna moved to Topeka and was employed by the Topeka VA for 10 years in Food Service. Later she volunteered at the Topeka VA and also the Topeka Clothing Bank.

Besides her husband Fred she was preceded in death by a daughter, Twila (Mark) Heinen on May 31, 2014; five brothers, Bernard in 1944 (in World War II), Edwin in 1972, Albert in July 22, 1977, Ted on November 14, 2000 and Clarence on March 28, 2014; and two sisters, Mary C. Schultejans on May 30, 1931 and Bernadine Wessel on August 8, 2010.

She is survived by her children, Loren Hasenkamp of Topeka; daughters, Elaine Hasenkamp of Topeka and Susan Worrell of Topeka. A son-in-law Mark Heinen of Basehor, a sister in law, Eleanor Schultejans of Anamosa, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore. Burial will be in the Wetmore City Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 A.M. before Mass.

Memorials will be designated at a later date, and sent in care of the family.
