Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton

Kay Stevens, 80, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at her home.

She was born on May 3, 1938 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Joe and Dorothy Finch Heim. Kay graduated from Horton High School. At an early age Kay began a career in business selling fireworks, working at the Horton Garment Factory, operating the theater, a donut shop, Tru Value Hardware, Kay's Flower Shop, Liquor Store, Ok Corral and just recently retired from the crossing guard position. She was a great mother and grandmother and a great cook. Kay enjoyed baking pies, gambling and traveling in her spare time. On December 9, 1954 she married Otho Stevens in Falls City, Nebraska.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Otho of the home; a daughter, Debbie (Gordon) Knudson of Everest, Kansas; two sons, Val Stevens of Hoyt, Kansas and Tim (Karen) Stevens of Horton, Kansas; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery. The family would like that you dress casual. Memorials may be made to St. Croix Hospice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
