Ellis Norvelle “Mac” McDevitt, 86, Atchison, Kansas passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Vintage Park, Atchison, Kansas.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 1, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Dekalb, Missouri. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Music Ministry or Atchison Humane Society and may be left in care of the funeral home. Mac was born on June 25, 1932 in Dekalb, Missouri the son of John Henry McDevitt,II and Alice Catherine (Eirls) McDevitt. He attended Dekalb schools and graduated in 1950. He was a veteran of Korean War and served as a Sergeant in the Air Force and the Air National Guard of Missouri.

He was married to Doris Sharp on November 27, 1953. They were married until 1973. He and Janice Peters were married in August of 1974. Although they divorced in 1984, they remained close until the time of his death.

Mac was a General Supervisor at Rockwell International and worked there for more than 35 years. In addition, he farmed land that his family owned. He was a member of the V. F. W.Post #1175, and the Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion both in Atchison. He enjoyed going to auctions, gardening, family cookouts, and spending time with his dog, Queenie.

Survivors include his companion, Janice McDevitt; his daughters, Terry (Joe) Bilderback, Tonganoxie, KS and Penny (Ron) Sowers, Effingham, KS; his son Pat (Cathy) McDevitt, Topeka, KS; and his stepdaughters, Linda (Ron) Kantowski, Henderson, NV, Ellen (Jeff) Ellis, St. Joseph, MO and Lottie (Jeremy) Lee, Atchison, KS and 5 grandchildren including Taylor (Halee) Lee, Atchison, KS.

He is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and his grandson, Galen McDevitt.
