Erin Baum

Erin LeAnn Baum, 36, of Wheaton, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at her home.  She was a life-long resident of the community.
 
Erin was born on March 15, 1982, in Onaga, Kansas, the daughter of Joe and Karen Teske Harder.  She attended local schools.  She was a member of Wheaton 4-H and Girl Scouts. Erin was involved with Studio 1 Dance Center, and enjoyed hunting rattle snakes in Oklahoma with her dad.  Erin also was a member of FFA and National Honor Society.  She was a wrestling cheerleader and later a cheer sponsor.  She graduated from Onaga High School in 2000.  Erin attended Fort Hays State University and then earned an Associates Degree from Highland Community College.
 
Erin worked for The Onaga Herald, Pottawatomie County Treasurer's Office and most recently Family Eye Care in Wamego as an Optometric technician. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and also taught Sunday School.  Erin loved her family, especially spending time with her three girls, and had a special bond with her uncle, Ken Teske.
 
Erin married Daniel Baum on May 16, 2009.  They later divorced.
 
Erin is survived by three daughters; Makayla, Chloe and Austyn Baum; her parents, Joe and Karen Harder, Wheaton; her sisters, Tracy Meyerkorth (Lincoln), Blaine, and Bailey Starns (Taylor), Wheaton; Grandmother, Vera Teske, Centralia; six nieces and four nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  Erin was preceded in death by her grandparents, William F. and Catherine Harder, and Melvin E. Teske; and her uncle, Ken Teske.
 
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton.  Reverend Terry DeGiovanni will be officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Luke Lutheran North Cemetery.  Erin will lie-in-state on Tuesday, at the church, beginning at 3:00 pm, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm.  They suggest memorial contributions to the Baum Girls' Education Fund, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Kufahl Funeral Home in Wheaton.  Online condolences may be made at www.campanellafuneral.com
