Racine Allen

Racine L. Allen, 61, of Pemberton Village Apartments of Hiawatha, surrounded by family, died late Sunday evening, November 4, 2018, at Hiawatha Community Hospital.

She was born at Council Bluffs, Iowa, October 16, 1957, one of five children born to the late James Wesley and Aula Faye Gunsenhauser Legan. She grew up in the Omaha, Nebraska/Council Bluffs, Iowa area where she attended school, later working hard to earn her GED. Racine moved to the Falls City/Brown County areas to make her home in the late 1970’s.

Racine loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very simple lady who loved to decorate her home for the holidays for her family enjoy. She was very frugal...with limited monies to could make it last an unbelievably long time!

Survivors include two sons: Tracey Sharp, Kelly Sharp; a daughter Brandy Sharp; three brothers: Joseph Dunham, Larry Dunham, and Matt Hire; six grandchildren: Trent, Monty, Daegan, Teagan, Alicia, Brittanie; and five great-grandchildren.

Racine was also preceded in death by a brother Wesley James Legan.

A Gathering of family and friends to celebrate Racine’s life is planned for 2 until 4 p.m. Saturday, November 10, at the Pemberton Community Building, 1400 North First Street, Hiawatha.

Memorial contributions are may be sent to the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, to help with funeral costs.
