Elizabeth " Liz" Peak

Elizabeth A. “Liz” Peak, 64, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully at Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Tuesday evening, October 16, 2018.

Liz was born June 25, 1954, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Donna Hudson Peak.  She grew up in the Horton-Effingham areas where she attended schools, graduating from Effingham High School.  Liz worked for Flair Fold Shutter Plant in Hiawatha for a number of years before deciding to go to college.  She attended a college in the Ozarks prior to earning not only her bachelor’s degree, but master degree as well, a degree in social science from Emporia State University.  Liz spent most of her working life in the Emporia/Lawrence areas where she did social work/counseling...in various settings and degrees.  She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in Topeka for some time, which she truly enjoyed.  In recent weeks due to failing health, she moved to Horton to be near family.

Survivors include her mother Donna Kinnear, a brother Jay Kinnear; a niece Ariel Bratton; and among other relatives are cousins J.T. Strube and Susan Pennington, all of Horton.

She was preceded in death by a brother Steven.

Cremation is planned.  A gathering will be held for family and friends at a later date.
