Nila Jean Cook, 85, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was born on February 7, 1933 at her parents home, in Hiawatha, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel and Evelyn Crowner Potter. Nila was a homemaker and enjoyed golfing, oil painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, tending to her flowers and spending time with her nieces and nephews. On June 20, 1948 she married Glenn C. Cook in Horton, Kansas.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Angie Heaton, Sue Foley, Mike Sechler, Steve Sechler, Jo Ellen Wilson, Mike Overman, Vern Iverson, Paul Bierly and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn on March 16, 2017, 3 sisters, Leone Elkins, Janice Morris and Betty Sechler and two brothers, Billy Ray Potter and Allen Potter.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Horton City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the N.E.K. Hospice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
