Maryann M. Faller, 91, of Hiawatha, died Saturday morning, September 22, 2018, at Maple Heights Nursing Home where she had been a resident for over a month.

She was born at Falls City, May 29, 1927, one of five children born to the late Herman and Rosa Bauman Niemeyer.  She grew up at Falls City where she attended school, where she later graduated high school.

She was a long time member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City.  Upon moving to Hiawatha over 10 years ago, she became a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Hiawatha, where she a member of the Altar Society.  Maryann enjoyed quilting, baking cookies, birthday and wedding cakes, bingo, gardening, loved her plants and flowers, Royals baseball games, and through the years, participated in a bowling league.

Maryann married Albert H. Faller, October 16, 1947, at the Catholic Church in Falls City.  They lived on a farm 9 miles NE of Falls City for 48 years when they retired and moved to town.  He died December 22, 2000.  A few years after his death, Maryann moved to Hiawatha to make her home.

Survivors include a daughter Linda Sanders (Dale) of Berryton, KS; two sons: Stephen Faller (Debra) of Kansas City, MO, Richard Faller of Hiawatha; sisters:  Helen Goltz of Rulo, NE, Rosemary Smith of Claremore, OK, Rita Dunavan of Hiawatha; three grand-daughters; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Maryann was also preceded in death by a brother Leonard Niemeyer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City, NE, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25.  Fathers Dan Gardner and Tom Dunavan will be the celebrants.  Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. Monday, where the parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. that evening, followed by the family visiting with friends.
