Carole Ann Coots, 72, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas.

She was born on August 18, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana the daughter of David and Cora Puckett Madere. Carole worked as a cook, Nurse’s Aide and in Respiratory Therapy before retiring. She was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Altar Society and the Horton Hospital Auxiliary.

On January 23, 1965 she married Thomas E. Coots in Horton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2006.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammie (Darcy) SanGrait of Hiawatha, Kansas and Tina Russell of Horton, Kansas; three sons, Albert (Linda) Coots of St. Joseph, Missouri, David (Tammy Moore) Coots of Horton, Kansas and Bobby (Hermina) Coots of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Roger Madere of Horton, Kansas; sister, Linda Alexender of Horton, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, D.J. Madere, Bobby Madere and Charlie Madere and a sister, Valerie Greene.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Horton City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Carole Coots memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
