Olivene K. Henley, 81, of Horton, KS passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Horton Community Hospital.

She was born October 23, 1936 one of twelve children to Oliver and Columbia Herrick Kahbeah. Nine of her siblings preceded her in death. She married Vernon H. Henley in Eldorado, KS, March 26, 1953. They lived in Kansas City their entire married life. He preceded her in death.

Olivene attended Kansas City Kansas Community College and received her Associates Degree from there. She would go on to work as a counselor for clients struggling with substance abuse and AIDS in the Kansas City area. Olivene was a member of the Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska. She enjoyed working with different charity organizations especially with the AA Group. She retired and moved back to Horton, Kansas.

Olivene then worked for the Sac & Fox Casino, the Golden Eagle Casino and Harrah’s Prairie Band Casino in the Security Dept.

She is survived by a son, Richard Henley of Horton, KS, grandchildren, David Henley Jr, Logan Henley, and RJ Henley, 3 great grandchildren and many other relatives.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas with burial to follow at the Kahbeah Cemetery. A dinner will be served at the Kickapoo Senior Citizens following the burial. Memorials are suggested to the Kickapoo Indian Methodist Church Kahbeah Chapel and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary 909 Central Ave. Horton, KS 66439.
