Willie "Bill" Max Cowley

 Willie "Bill" Max Cowley, 80 of Everest, Kansas, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on August 7, 1937 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Willie and Mary (Binkley) Cowley. The graduated from ACCHS in 1954. Bill joined the U.S. Navy out of high school, where he served as a Sea Bee during the Korean Conflict. Bill was a hog farmer for many years before working at Laura and Sterney's Lumber Yard in Everest. He later was a self employed carpenter working for many people in the area. Bill was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family. On January 22, 1956 he married Ada May Joyce in Effingham, Kansas. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ada May Cowley of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Willie Max (Renea) Cowley Jr. of Lawrence, Kansas and Russell Wade (Peggy) Cowley of Blair, Nebraska; two daughters, Sandra Lee Wolf of Horton, Kansas and Amy Jo (Austin) Madison of Everest, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, Jonathen, Isaac, Cory, Brent, Dusty, Tara, Willie, Kristen, Cole and Elizabeth; 10 great grandchildren, Madison, Emma, Leah, Caleb, Olivia, Emaleigh, Paige, Josie, Huxley, Ethan and baby Schultz on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery outside of Everest, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Everest Little League program and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
