Harold W. Jahnke, 97, of Powhattan, KS died Monday, April 23, 2018 at The Pines in Hiawatha, KS.

He was born on December 17, 1920 at the family farm to William and Ida Wilkening Jahnke the youngest of 7 children. Harold grew up and attended schools in Riley County graduating from Riley High School.

Harold married Gladys Sylvester on October 22, 1944 at his Parent’s home. They later moved to Powhattan, KS to farm because of the Fort Riley Expansion. Gladys survives at The Pines in Hiawatha.

He was a member of the Powhattan United Methodist Church, a Trustee, and helped remodel the church building. He served on the Tri County Manor Board. Harold was a charter member of the original Rural Water District #2. He also served on the Brown County Farm Bureau Association Board. In his spare time Harold enjoyed woodworking and playing the organ.

Also surviving are three daughters; Sharilyn (Bill) Pollock of Powhattan, KS, Shauna (Don) Nye of Powhattan, KS, and Shelia (Cory) Heiniger of Fairview, KS, 10 grandchildren; Jonathan, Luke, Noah, Jerod, Sarah, Tony, Erica, Mandy, Connie, and Heidi, and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings, and a great grandson in infancy, William Pollock.

Funeral Services are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Powhattan United Methodist Church in Powhattan, KS. Interment will follow at the Powhattan Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home after 10 a.m on Friday.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
