Geraldine C. Weishaar, 86, Atchison, Kansas, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Atchison Medicalodge Nursing Center.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, April 16, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict’s Church with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Nortonville, Kansas.  A parish rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 15th at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation with the family to follow until 5:30 P.M.  Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Elementary School and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

Geraldine was born July 11, 1931 on the family farm in rural Nortonville, Kansas the daughter of John J. and Cecelia Bertels Weishaar.  She attended St. Joseph School in Nortonville.

Geraldine was employed as a seamstress for the Horton Garment Company from 1956 until 1975, then as an office assistant for Dr. Frank Donovan and later worked for the Atchison Leather Products Company before becoming a seamstress for Nell Hill’s of Atchison.

She was a longtime devout member of St. Benedict’s Church of Atchison and served as a Sacristan for the church for over 50 years until just recently when her health began to fail.

Survivors include a sister, Ruth Forge, Lee’s Summit, MO, two brothers, Jack Weishaar, Nortonville, KS and Bill Weishaar, Nortonville, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Marceline Weishaar, Dorothy Domann, Mildred Weishaar and a brother, Harold Weishaar.
