Jaroslav “Sid” Sedlacek, 95, of Holton, KS passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at his home in Holton, KS. He was born April 28, 1922 in Abie, Nebraska the son of Frank and Theresa (Stach) Sedlacek.

Sid graduated from Rossville High School in 1940. After high school Sid served in the United States Army during WW II. After his enlistment in the Army he came home to his family farm in the Whiting area where he continued to farm for over fifty years until his retirement in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Libbie Elsik and Viola Anderly; four brothers, Zdenek, Raymond, Victor and Jerry Sedlacek; and one nephew, Dale Elsik.

Sid is survived by one brother, Louis Sedlacek of Prague, NE; three nieces, Pam Todd of Midlothin, TX, Susan Anderly of Phoenix, AZ and Kelly Luth of Little Rock, AR; five nephews, Alvin Elsik of San Antonio, TX, Gary Anderly of Phoenix, AZ, Steven Anderly of Phoenix, AZ and Russell Sedlacek of Lincoln, NE.

A memorial graveside service with military honors will be held at Prague National Cemetery in Prague, Nebraska at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Jackson County Senior Citizen Center c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
