Frank L. Schuetz, 73, died early Monday morning February 5, 2018, at Mosaic Life Care Center in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Funeral Services are planned for 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, with Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl, of the Eternal Hope Worship Center. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services.

Frank was born at Falls City, Nebraska, November 21, 1944, the son of the late Theodore and Lena Durfey Schuetz. He grew up at Falls City where he attended school. Growing up in the community he was active delivering newspapers, worked in the grocery stores, always had a job doing something. Frank did road construction a short time before going to work for Wilde Tool Co. in Hiawatha for 12 years. He worked for 25 years for Hammersmith Manufacturing in Horton before retiring in 2012.

Frank enjoyed wood working. He and Norma enjoyed watching football games together.

Frank married Norma Buckminster, February 3, 1963 in Falls City. They have made Hiawatha their home nearly all of their life where they raised their family. Together, they operated Walt & Jane’s Tavern in Hiawatha for 4 years. Norma survives.

Also surviving is a son Alan Schuetz (Connie) of Illinois; a son-in-law Roy Hartley of Hiawatha; two granddaughters: Emily and Kayla; 3 great-grandchildren, Kolby, Karter, and Korrie. A sister JoAnn Massey of Robinson, also survives.

Frank was also preceded in death by his daughter Paula Hartley; siblings, Bill, Jimmy, Gene, and Susie Elliott.
