John Edward Knudson, 89, of Everest, Kansas, passed away on February 3, 2018 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas.

He was born on April 28, 1928 in Horton, Kansas the son of Carl John and Emma Christina Edwardson Knudson.

John was baptized and in 1943 confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church of Everest, Kansas. He attended Pleasant Ridge Grade School and Atchison County Community High School in Effingham. In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict.

After his discharge he returned to Everest to farm with his father until his father retired. He then started farming and raising cattle with his brother Lee. John was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Everest American Legion.

Survivors include a brother, Lee Knudson of Horton, Kansas; nephew, Greg Knudson of Everest, Kansas; niece, Lynda (Dennis) Ross of Horton, Kansas and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 7, 3018 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial with military graveside rites will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, north of Everest, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
