Dixie K. Elkinton, 68, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.  She was born July 16, 1949 in Ozawkie, the daughter of Cyrus B. and Ethel L. Boyd May. She was a life time resident of Jefferson County and was a 1967 graduate of Oskaloosa High School.

Dixie retired in 2002 after working 14 years for Hays and Hays Law office in Oskaloosa. She had formerly worked at the State Bank of Oskaloosa and worked at Oskaloosa Drug Store.

She was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was an active volunteer at Old Jefferson Town for the Jefferson County Historical Society for many years. 

She was married to Larry Lee Elkinton on November 4, 1967 at Ozawkie, celebrating 50 years this year, Larry survives at home. She is also survived by one son, Dusty (Aubrey) Elkinton, Moundville, MO, three sisters, Darlene (Larry) Knudsen, Ozawkie, Patricia (Dale) Brunton, Meriden, Shelley (David) Steffey, Oskaloosa, three grandchildren, Halley Elkinton, Talyn Elkinton and Ryden Elkinton, all of Moundville, MO.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Cyrus “Joe” May. 

Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 12, at Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial at Ozawkie Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.  Memorials suggested to Jefferson County Historical Society for Old Jefferson Town in care of the Funeral Home, P.O.
